About this material
Isabgol husk is the separated outer coat of the Plantago ovata seed, not the seed itself. The seed is milled in stages, and the husk lifts away from the darker endosperm as fine translucent flakes which are then graded by the proportion of husk to residual seed carried through. Purity grade is the specification that matters and it is stated per consignment. The husk is very light, extremely bulky for its weight, and swells rapidly in contact with water, forming a gel, which is exactly the property it is bought for. Handle in still air, since a draught moves it.
